NMIT

Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology is a high quality tertiary education provider located in the Nelson / Marlborough region at the top of New Zealand's South Island. Students can train full-time or part-time to complete National qualifications in cookery as well as the City and Guilds, international qualifications, in cookery. Students can gain either the 32 week Certificate in Cookery or the advanced 24 week Certificate in Professional Cookery, depending on their experience.

Front of house staff train on the Certificate in Professional Restaurant, Wine and Bar Service programme and graduates are well set up to fast track to a supervisory role within a restaurant or hotel. Gain proficiency in food and beverage service, wine, coffee and bar skills.

Academia Barilla

Academia Barilla is the first international center dedicated to the development and promotion of Italian Gastronomic Culture. The Hospitality and Wellbeing Programme Area at NMIT is partnered with the Academia Barilla in Parma Italy. NMIT is the first institute in New Zealand to offer people a unique opportunity to study Italian gastronomy. Students will gain an increased awareness of Italian cuisine, learn about the links between Italian food and culture and how this can be applied in a New Zealand context.
NMIT is the exclusive Academia Barilla Centre for New Zealand where students can study Academia Barilla’s ‘Fundamentals of Italian Regional Gastronomy’. This fantastic opportunity is provided to all students studying the NMIT Certificate in Professional Cookery or to those members of the public who have culinary skills and an interest in Italian cuisine.
